The Last Thing I Remember — the first installment in Andrew’s Homelanders series of thriller novels for young adults — has received the the 2012 Iowa Teen Award. The award, sponsored by the Iowa Association of School Librarians/Iowa Library Association, goes to the author whose book receives the most votes from students in grades six through nine across the state of Iowa. The award has been given since 1984. In a letter responding to the award notification, Andrew wrote, “I’m so delighted to receive this honor.  It’s a special pleasure because I know the readers themselves did the choosing.  An author is always pleased to receive the praise of critics and flattered to garner awards from committees and colleagues, but in the end, it’s the readers who matter most.  I’m very grateful to the students across the state who gave The Last Thing I Remember their votes.” A single volume edition of all four books in the Homelanders series is due out May 1.
